Over the years, and many generations of dogs, Jack , Joe or Tony McCallum have had dogs of great influence, either by their work
ability, type or breeding potency and impact. There would not be enough room to mention all of the dogs here that played a part in
the process that ended up as The McCallum Cowdog
My Grandfather Jack McCallum regarded a
dog called "Bot" to be the first dog he had that
represented an all round working cattle dog.
We all have to have a benchmark from which
to pursue a goal , and "Bot" was that dog
My Father Joe McCallum had a dog called
"McDangle" which he regarded as his best
dog , a tough dog with more stock sense
than most. A legend for the tasks he
managed and the hardships he endured,
traits still s
ought after. l was just a boy but
can just remember this old black dog and the
pride my father showed in him.
My favourite dog has been "Boss" for
his sheer enthusiasm and versatility. I
have witnessed work from this dog I
had not believed possible, so he in fact
taught me what could be expected from
a dog, he produced many offspring that
shared some of his  traits
Thank you
